Hugh Chisholm
(Western District) Born in Strathglass, 19th October 1830, the son of Nicholas Chisholm and Mary McDonald; ordained a priest in Palencia, 30th May 1854, and left for Scotland, 12th June 1854; Canon and provost of Glasgow Chapter; at St. Mirin’s, Paisley, from 1881 until his death there, 24th June 1908.

Report of the ordination of Hugh Chisholm in the Scottish Catholic Directory of 1855.
The Rev. Hugh Chisholm was born on the 19th October, 1830, at Lietry, Glencannich, in Strathglass, Inverness-shire, was received at Blair’s College on the 7th September, 1843, and was thence sent to the Scots College, Valladolid, on the 3d of May, 1847. On completing his studies, he was ordained Subdeacon on the 14th, Deacon on the 28th, and Priest on the 30th May, 1854, at Palentia by Senor Jeronimo Fernandez, Bishop of that See. He returned to Scotland in the end of June following, and, having spent some time in Glasgow, was in the autumn appointed Missionary in Moidart.
